CASL

The Capital Area Soccer League (CASL) is the Lansing area’s travel league for third graders through high school. Registration for Grand Ledge CASL teams is through the Grand Ledge Soccer Club. The Club provides coaches, training and game facilities for each team. Tryouts are held in June each year. Registration and tryout dates are announced on our Facebook page in May. A single tryout places a player on a team in both the fall and spring seasons, but we will try to accommodate players who want to play only one season.

It is the goal of the Grand Ledge SC not to cut any player who wants to play CASL soccer; however, CASL has limits on the number of players who can be rostered on each team. It is sometimes unavoidable that players are cut.

CASL teams are coached by volunteers, but referees are paid. Matches throughout the league are played on school fields or in parks. Travel is generally limited to the greater Lansing area. Typically, teams practice twice a week and have one or two matches on the weekend. Fall practices usually start in late August and games end the first week of November. Spring practices usually start in late March and games end by mid-June. A typical season has eight games, but some teams will choose to play in tournaments. Tournaments are scheduled and organized by each teams individual coaching staff. CASL registration costs approximately $110/season for each player, which only includes, the cost of practices, games and administration fees. Player uniform items travel expenses and any tournaments the team chooses to play in will cost extra. CASL offers financial assistance if the registration fee is an issue.
